League's 173 Champions Split 11 Non-Mana Resource Names — 7 Belong to Just One Champion Each

Counting every champion's resource bar in Data Dragon turns up 11 names besides mana, and more than half of them belong to exactly one champion. Mana alone covers over 80% of the roster.

Tally every champion's resource bar across League's 173 champions and mana covers the overwhelming majority — but the leftovers split into 11 different names, and 7 of those are used by exactly one champion. Aatrox's Blood Well, Kled's Courage, Mordekaiser's Shield, Rengar's Ferocity, Rumble's Heat, Sett's Grit, and Vladimir's Crimson Rush are each one-person clubs.

Where this number comes from

Data Dragon's champion data includes a field called partype that sits right next to HP and mana and names each champion's resource bar. Most champions simply run on "Mana," but any kit that doesn't use mana gets a custom label instead. I counted the partype value for all 173 champions and tallied how many champions share each name.

Mana covers over 80%, the rest splits into 11 names

The 145 mana users outnumber everyone else combined by roughly 5.2x. Of the 28 non-mana champions, 7 don't even have a bar (6 are flagged "none," plus Bel'Veth, whose field is simply blank), leaving 21 champions split across 11 named resources. About 64% of those 11 names — seven of them — belong to exactly one champion.

Chi is the only resource with real company

Among those 21 champions, only four resources are shared by more than one person: Chi (Akali, Ambessa, Kennen, Lee Sin, Shen, Zed) at 6, Fury (Briar, Renekton, Shyvana, Tryndamere) at 4, and Rage (Gnar, Rek'Sai) and Flow (Yasuo, Yone) at 2 each. The Chi users lean heavily toward assassins and mobile fighters, so the label seems reserved for kits built around physical pressure. Counted by champion, the 7 solo-resource champions make up about 33% of the 21 named-resource users; counted by category, they're about 64% of the 11 names — the skew gets sharper depending on how you slice it.

The seven solo resources each track a distinct identity. Blood Well and Crimson Rush both run on HP (Aatrox and Vladimir respectively), Ferocity stacks up as Rengar keeps hunting, Heat caps out from Rumble's own overheating, Grit fills from Sett dealing and taking damage, Courage ties into Kled's mount Skaarl, and Shield is Mordekaiser's AP-scaled gauge. None of these could run on ordinary mana management, so it looks like each one got a custom name to match — that part's my own read on it.

Takeaway

Mana covers more than four-fifths of the roster, yet the remaining fifth needed 11 separate proper nouns, and more than half of those belong to a single champion. Whenever a designer breaks from the mana default, they seem to go all the way to "nobody else could use this."
